Library Internships
The DAI Nuremberg Library offers the largest collection of English-language literature in the Nuremberg metropolitan area, making it a unique destination for anyone with an interest in English-language books and culture.
Become part of the team at the German-American Institute (DAI) Nuremberg and gain valuable hands-on experience in an English-language American library. This internship offers a diverse range of responsibilities in an open, international work environment where you can contribute your own ideas while exploring different aspects of library services.
What you can expect:
Library Services: Assist library visitors, support patrons with finding books and other materials, help with administrative tasks, and receive an introduction to the Accessit library management system.
Social Media: Learn how libraries use social media professionally and create engaging content to promote our library and its programs.
Event Planning: Support the planning and organization of library events, such as our monthly Story Time for children and library tours—from preparation through implementation.
Teamwork & Networking: Work alongside a dedicated team, gain valuable professional experience, and build connections that can last beyond your internship.
Internship Requirements:
- Minimum duration: 2 months
- Flexible scheduling in either full-time or part-time, making it easy to combine with your studies
- Internship dates must be arranged in advance with our Program Management team.

Volunteer Activites
The DAI Nürnberg welcomes every request for volunteer work. Sometimes there is a need for native English speakers to offer certain program items, other times we need assistance in the library, and sometimes we need other kinds of help. We are also happy to employ volunteers for children and youth work.
