History
The history of the American house in Germany
How did we become the German-American Institute?
The Amerikahaus Nürnberg, founded in 1946 by the US military government, evolved from a center for US military personnel into a binational institute. Since 1962, known as the Deutsch-Amerikanisches Institut Nürnberg e.V., it promotes German-American dialogue through cultural events, language courses, and discussion groups. With the largest English-language library in Northern Bavaria and special programs for children and youth, it serves as an important hub for cultural exchange and education.
