Under President John F. Kennedy, plans were developed to transform some of the "Amerika-Häuser" into binational cultural institutions. By that time, the spheres of influence between the USA and the Soviet Union in Europe were already clearly defined. As a result, in 1962, the Amerika-Haus in Nuremberg was also converted into a binational center and officially renamed the Deutsch-Amerikanisches Institut Nürnberg e.V.

As a binational institute, the Amerikahaus Nürnberg serves as a meeting point for both countries—a place where American and German ideas can be exchanged, fostering stronger ties between the two nations. We are proud to host events throughout the year that explore societal, political, and economic issues in the United States, along with concerts, lectures, readings, and much more. Additionally, we offer English courses and discussion groups designed to engage people of all ages in American life and culture while enhancing their language skills. At the Amerikahaus Nürnberg, students, interns, and young professionals can also find valuable information and guidance for visits and potential stays in the USA. We are also proud to offer the largest english speaking public Library in northern Bavaria for your own personal benefit, whether it be for fun or for research.
