HABI(BI)TAT is an intercultural mini-festival in, by, and with Nuremberg’s Südstadt neighborhood. On May 29 and 30, 2026, it will showcase art, music, and cultural expressions by migrant-identified and Black artists at südpunkt.
The name combines “habitat” with “habibi” (Arabic for “darling,” “dear one”) and stands for belonging, diversity, and solidarity. The focus is on the perspectives of migrant communities that shape the neighborhood. Habi(bi)tat builds on existing intercultural formats and develops them further—with concerts, DJing & dance, art, readings, poetry, discussions, and participatory activities. Local participants engage in dialogue with other guests.
The festival also understands “living space” in a political sense: as a place of self-determination, cultural diversity, and solidarity. By involving neighborhood venues, new bridges are built between institutional cultural work and the lived realities of the Südstadt. In this way, Habi(bi)tat strengthens the connection between cultural institutions and the neighborhood and makes diversity tangible as a shared resource.
