The largest freely accessible English-language library in northern BavariaWelcome to the Library of the DAI Nuremberg!
We are excited to welcome you to the largest public English-language library in Northern Bavaria. As a specialized library, we focus on "all things American."
In our space, you’ll find a cozy reading corner as well as three computer workstations where you can browse our catalog or surf the internet.
Students will find plenty of material for home- and schoolwork, presentations and research. School groups are also welcome to take guided tours. Amerikahaus members also enjoy special access to our online platform eBooksUSA.

What we offer
Over 10.000 English language Books: Novels, Children's Books, Non-fiction, Travel Guides, Reference Guides, Dictionaries, and many Study Guides for tests, such as TOEFL, TOEIC, SAT, GMAT oder GRE
Ca. 1.200 DVDs, as well as quite a few Audiobooks
Around 70 english Magazines, including The Economist, National Geographic, Scientific American and Vanity Fair. We also have the daily papers every day: International New York Times, Nürnberger Nachrichten and the Nürnberger Zeitung.
30 databases from the eLibrary USA portfolio, including the Britannica Library, the Literature Resource Center, Gales Academic OneFile and Science in Context, Business Source Premier and the English Language Learner Reference Center.

You will find all available media in our library as well as your personal user account here
Our Library Card costs 10 Euro, is good for a year and is not transferable; for members of the Förderverein, library membership is free. The loan periods are 4 weeks for books and 2 weeks for magazines, audio CDs, and DVDs. Renewals are possible (via our online catalog or by email/phone) as long as the item has not been reserved. Unfortunately, newspapers and reference materials cannot be checked out, and DVDs cannot be renewed.
Additional Costs:
- Late fee: € 0.50 per medium and week
- Reservations: € 0,50
- Issuing a replacement ID card: € 3,00
- Photo copying: € 0,10 per page
- Internet usage: € 0,50 per half an hour
